Overall Division Statistics

Case progression.

This chart details case management for the entirety of my current judicial term as it relates to final disposition of individual cases.  The # of days details the # of cases that have not reached finalization from 0-90 days to over 730 days (2 years).  This is a diagnostic tool to assist with case tracking and management and NOT as a means to monitor other Judges.  Each Judge has their own technique and methodology and other factors that may affect the progression of case advancement.

Fair, Impartial, Timely & Consistent Outcomes

CREATED TO INCREASE ACCESS TO THE COURTS AND TIMELINESS OF FINAL OUTCOMES

Since the creation of Division 3 by General Assembly, the primary focus was to ensure the public has faster access to the Court system and to reduce the time it takes to reach final resolution in their cases.

We have met and exceeded these expectations.

Source Information

All statistics are provided based upon actual filing numbers.  The AOC publication titled "Behind the Bench" placed Division 3 as #1 in the Commonwealth on electronic filing as of May 2026.   Since the beginning, we have worked & trained other Courts in the electronic process.

New Cases & Final Orders.

These #s represent a 7 year time period of new cases assigned to Division 3 and the "final" orders entered.  Final Orders are subject to appeal to the Court of Appeals.

The statistics listed in the Appellate information is from Jan 7, 2019 to April 30, 2026.

Appeals are filed when a party does not agree with the Court's decision after a final resolution.  COA means Court of Appeals.  The trial judge does not participate in the appellate process.  And, the responding party(ies) do not always participate in the appellate review.

Common final decisions are:  Entry of a DVO or IPO; Entry of a Dissolution of Marriage; Final Judgment on Custody; Final Judgment establishing child support; Final Disposition in a juvenile action; Order Terminating Parental Rights; Order of Adoption; and many other Orders requiring relief.
